Video: Capture One Quick Edit: US Capitol Building - Fixing a Dull Photo

This is the first video of a new series called “Quick Edits”. In this video, follow along as I edit a photo of the US Capitol Building in Capture One Pro. I wanted to try doing super short screencasts of editing just one photo. I know people often don’t have that much time to watch a longer video and so I wanted to keep them to 5 minutes or less. I often find that I learn the most just by watching what others do, and so that’s what this is.

Staatstheater Darmstadt

While exploring the German Town of Darmstadt, I came across an impressive sight. I was walking out through the town, when I wandered into a large open square with a very unique looking set of concrete structures and an imposing, but starkly beautiful building down the far end of it. I had read about it previously in the guide books, but it was something else to see it in person. It was like something out of a science fiction movie. It was the Darmstadt State Theatre.

A Photo Essay on Dublin’s New Central Bank

I recently published a new photo essay over on my Streets of Dublin website, and I thought that I would share the story behind it here, as well as some behind the scenes information. The Idea came about by accident really. I was in the area taking pictures for something else, and I realised that this amazing looking building was nearing completion, and my wife and co-editor on the Streets of Dublin thought it would make an interesting story. 

Concrete, Steel & Glass

I’ve always been quite fond of textures and patterns. I find that, even in the seemingly harsh and cold medium of concrete and glass there can be beauty. I spent a few hours the other day in one of the newest parts of Dublin City, where there are lots of modern buildings as well as ongoing construction, and the light was just right to really emphasis the aesthetics of these elements.
