Iridient Developer updated with important new features

The excellent Iridient Developer has been updated to version 2.4 and it includes some very important new features. The first is that they’ve dramatically simplified the workflow for using Iridient Developer when using it in conjunction with another application like Lightroom. It now works in a similar vein to Photo Ninja in that it will try and find matched raw files when Tiffs are sent from Lightroom, and it will overwrite that tiff when exporting back.

The second new feature is that it now supports zip compression on Tiffs, which should help reducing the file size. I tried it out this morning and while it’s not a major reduction, over a large number of images the savings will add up. There are an additional few tidbits for Fuji X-Trans users:

  • Automatic support for alternate RAW aspect ratio (16:9 and 1:1) cropping with Fujifilm X series cameras.
  • Improved support for Fujifilm X series camera white balance presets (daylight, cloudy, shade, tungsten, fluorescent) directly from RAF image metadata.

I’ve put together a short video (above) showing the new workflow in action.

The full list of new features and improvements can be found on Iridient Digital’s website.
