New Video: Road trip to Photograph the Northernmost Point in Ireland with the Fuji X-E4 and 16-80mm Lens
Back in April my wife and I took a road trip to the northern most region in Ireland, the Inishowen peninsula in Co. Donegal. We were there for a few days and took the opportunity to photograph the northern most point on the island of Ireland, as well as some of the incredible beaches in the area.
The funny thing is, I hadn’t intended on making this into a video. This wasn’t really a dedicated photo trip. We were actually going on vacation and I had shot some footage, most of it on my iPhone, with the intent of maybe doing some social media posts or something like that. It was only when I started putting it together that I realised I had the makings of a nice little video.
This is quite a bit different from my usual type of YouTube videos although it does have the same feel overall I hope. It’s actually a style I’ve been wanting to try for a while, even though this sort of came together organically.
The photos were all shot on my Fuji X-E4 with the Fuji 16-80mm lens. I used this for a couple of video shots too. I had a go pro mounted to the car window too, which is most of the driving shots, although some of those are from my iPhone too. I wasn’t driving so I should get cutaways with the iPhone. I was using the 15 Pro Max and I shot in Apple Log with the Blackmagic Camera app. There was one of the videos which is just straight out of the normal camera app (it should be pretty obvious which).
I am working on a companion photo essay to this which I will post over on my photo stories blog so stay tuned for that too, and I’ll share some higher quality stills. In the meantime I’ve been posting some of the photos on Instagram and X.
I was going back and forth as to whether or not to release this video. It’s one of those things where I really like the result, but I’m not sure it will do well (but you never know) and like anyone else out there with a YouTube channel, you’re always afraid of tanking your ranking by trying something different. Anyway, I hope you will enjoy the result.
