Handmade Camera Strap from Etsy
I recently decided to get a new camera strap for my old film camera. By new, I really mean: "one in the first place" as it has been without a strap for some time since I "borrowed" the one that came with it for something else. I wanted something that fitted the retro nature of the camera, and I also wanted something fairly minimal. So I decided to try and have a look on Etsy, and what I found was a lovely piece of hand made craftsmanship.
I don't purchase much on Etsy, mainly because I haven't really had a reason to, but I do like to support independent artists and craftsman, so when i had the chance I was happy to go with a strap from an individual on ETSY rather than a larger company. After searching around for a while, I settled on this one from MH Leather in the UK. I got the plain leather one with red stitching in the medium length. The strap was hand made to my order and I received it after a week.
What I really like about it is the o-rings which attach to the lugs on the camera. The camera is missing it's eyelets and I was afraid I was going to have to go searching for those, but this simple solution works great, and looks well too. The strap also came with some round leather protectors that stop the rings scratching your camera body. Overall, it's exactly what I wanted. It's a minimal design but it looks really good, it's strong and I think it will look really nice once it's weathered a bit. I'm really happy with it, and I would certainly buy from that Etsy shop again.
I tried to take some arty pictures of it, but it didn't really work out as it ended up being more about the camera, but anyway. Here are some shots of it. I shot these on my Sony A6000 and then transferred them to my iPhone over wifi while having a coffee in Starbucks! I then processed them in VSCO cam and they were there waiting fro me in Photos once I had finished writing this post!
