New Year Photography Goals

New Year Photography Goals

It's that time of the year again, when the excitement of the new year is still fresh and I decide to make lots of resolutions for myself that I invariably won't actually keep. Ok, I'm kidding.... well, sort of. I did actually keep some of my resolutions last year, but this time, instead of resolutions as such, I'm setting myself some photography related goals to achieve throughout the year. Most of these are just ideas, that I've jotted down. Even if they never actually happen, it can be helpful to think out loud like this, even if it's just to give yourself some direction.

So here are my 25 photography related goals, ideas and directions I want to aim for in 2015. I'm sure these will change and morph over the year but anyway. In no particular order....

1. Shoot More Film
2. Shoot More Video
3. Write another book
4. Switch my business from mostly design to mostly photography
5. Blog more
6. Pay more attention to my other sites
7. Push even harder with my Streets of Dublin project
8. Do Streets of Dublin book
9. Get a medium format film camera
10. Travel to at least two new places
11. Sell some of my older cameras
12. Write more stories on the artistic side of photography
13. Do some studio shooting
14. Do more iPhone / Mobile photography
15. Get outside more
16. Combine my skills of Design, 3d and Photography for a project
17. Do more Landscape and Nature Photography
18. Get more organised with my Photography files
19. Become a complete expert on Lightroom
20. Brush up on my Photoshop skills
21. Shoot on a tripod more
22. Come up with new ways to help beginners learn photography
23. Start a photography related vlog or podcast
24. Read the big pile of photography books I've bought over the past year
25. Get my long planned food photography blog off the ground

They're more of a thinking out loud kind of thing, but you get the idea. I really do want to write more about photography though. Over the past few months I've been so busy with design work that I've been neglecting my blogs, and I really miss it. It's one of those things that comes naturally when you're doing it all the time but when you fall out of the habit, it becomes hard to get going again. Well, for me anyway. In 2014 this site grew substantially, and I want to grow it even more this year, so I hope I can continue to provide useful information, and inspiration to you over the next 12 months.

I want to thank everyone too. This wouldn't have been possible without the support of the readers. All those who linked to and gave me shout outs helped grow the site, and those who've offered me kind words of encouragement over the past year. Here's looking forward to a great 2015.
