Introducing “The Photography Geek Show” (Or something similar)

I’ve been plugging away at my YouTube channel for a while now, and I had this idea for something that I wanted to try, but it’s taken me some time to get it together. I have lots of different bits and pieces that I do, and I have a few different “series”, such as “Street Photo Diary”. Instead of all these disparate threads, I wanted to try and create one good video a week. With that in mind, here is the first episode of that new series. For the moment I’m calling it “The Photography Geek Show” although that may change. I’m open to suggestions!

The first episode is a bit rough, I won’t deny it. Things didn’t exactly go according to plan. I had shot loads of footage and some good talking points, but when I got back to my computer to load it all into FCPX I realised that there was a problem with the Audio on my Canon G7XII. The audio was all garbled and there was a really loud sound which seemed like it was the autofocus motor or the stabiliser. After examination, it seems like some dust or dirt in the microphone hole is the problem, which seems like a design flaw to me, but anyway.

I re-recorded the sections of me talking to the camera, and put that together with the footage I had shot previously, and it came together, but it’s not exactly what I had planned. Episode 2 will be better! (I hope). Starting jitters aside, the first episode looks at shooting some images for my Streets of Dublin project with my old Nikon D700. I also go through editing them, and I talk about the D700 and why I like it, as well as some of its issues. I also take a quick look at a “Lens Ball” which I’ve been sent to review, and which should be in the next episode.

I’m really hoping to try and develop this into a good weekly series, so please give it a chance and watch it (even though the first episode is a bit rough around the edges) and if you like it give it a thumbs up. And if you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel already, please do. It’s steady growth, but I really do want to try and hit 10,000 by the end of the year, which is probably an unrealistic goal, but I’m going to try anyway.
